Yellow Apatite is a crystal I fell in love with! Its typical hexagonal growth pattern and bright yellow gemmy quality made me a huge fan of this stone. Apatite is a calcium phosphate that belongs the Apatite group of crystals. Depending on the predominance of either fluorine, chlorine or the hydroxyl group apatite is actually three different minerals. The names of these minerals are Fluorapatite, Chlorapatite and Hydroxylapatite. Most of the Apatite that is available today is fluorapatite as chlorapatite and hydroxyapatite are extremely rare.
