Prasiolite is a rare variety of green of quartz due to a specific impurity of iron in the crystal. It gets its name from the the latin word 'prason' meaning "leek" for its green hue. Most Prasiolite in the gem market is often made by heating the yellow quartz or amethyst from the Montezuma deposit in the Minas Gerais, Brazil. There are only a few locations of naturally occurring Prasiolite in the world and a small number of mines where the amethyst can be heated to create the green color. Either way, the green color of this quartz is stunning and holds a wonderful energy. Prasiolite carries the energetic link between the heart and crown chakras. It helps to energetically link the physical aspects of the human self with the spiritual aspects of higher self. It allows for the grounding of high-frequency energy of the heart as well as connecting to the vibrational energy of nature. It's a great stone for processing one's emotions as well as instilling compassion.
