Extra Large Lake Superior Agate Pendant

This vibrant agate pendant may look like a regular, (but extremely beautiful) carnelian stone but this particular one is extra special because it is a prized Lake Superior Agate from Minnesota here in the US. 

10,000 years ago, the continent began to split, creating a large rift valley, volcanoes erupted, and lava welled up in the area of what is now Lake Superior. In this process air bubbles were trapped in the lava and water seeped into the holes created by the bubbles and deposited iron, quartz, and other minerals in layers which led to the amazing creation of agates.  Eventually, when the surrounding volcanic rock was worn away agates were released from the lava and carried all over parts of the state and into Canada. Agates can be found all over the planet but the ones found in the Great Lakes were predominantly rich in iron creating the famous layers of with their signature red and orange colors.

Lake Superior Agate is believed to be a billion years old, making it the oldest of its kind. It is known as a transformative stone that will help you to feel safe in times of change.

Agate may not have as high as a vibration as other stones however it is a wonderful grounding and supportive stone, earning the name “The Stabilizer”.  Agate promotes inner stability, composure, and maturity. It’s warm, protective properties encourage security and self-confidence.
